In The Store: One Block East of Jerome, seasoned stripper Carmela Petrelli has lived her life defiantly in the face of sexual abuse. She has an unexpected encounter with Professor Paula Brownell, an academic more comfortable studying women than with living life. The Store depicts one young, working class woman’s coming of age in the Bronx and the suddenly frightening passage from the safety of the corner candy store to the shadows and catcalls of the street corner. At a time when high profile sexual harassment cases are everywhere, Castillo offers this candid and intimate conversation between two women.

The Store: One Block East of Jerome contains nudity, explicit language and sexual situations; parental discretion is advised.
