The National Black Theatre (NBT),
located in Harlem, was founded in 1968 by Dr. Barbara Ann Teer,
a well known writer, producer, director, teacher, organizer and
actress, in order to break from the negative aspects of European
culture. NBT works to conserve, sustain, maintain, preserve and
promote the rich culture of people of African descent in America.
