Steppenwolf Theatre Company -
IL began performing plays informally in 1974. Their mission
is to advance the vitality and diversity of American theatre. Among
their accomplishments are two Tony Awards for The Grapes of
Wrath (1990), and six Tony nominations for Buried Child
(1996). Steppenwolf is the only theatre company to have been recognized
with the National Medal of Arts – our nation’s highest
arts and humanities award that was presented by President Clinton
in 1998.
