City Garage, under the leadership of Artistic Director Frederique
Michel and Managing Director Charles Duncombe, has been producing
highly professional, avant-garde political theatre in Los Angeles
since 1987. In 1994, the theatre made its permanent home in a former
city garage. Their motto is "to do wonderful theatre that makes
people think." Their main focus is contemporary international
writing. City Garage also creates new works and adaptations that
explore social and political issues. City Garage believes that we
are entering a time when national and cultural borders are rapidly
disappearing. If we are to understand the emerging global community,
we must create new forms of theatre that address these new times,
both intellectually and artistically.
